For over 25 years, Gippsland Physiotherapy Group (GPG) Morwell has been providing people with high-quality physiotherapy services.

Our Morwell practice is conveniently located at 150 Commercial Road, opposite Latrobe City Council. Our team of experienced physiotherapists are dedicated to your physical well-being and will provide you with the best treatment or injury/condition management possible. Our services offered at Morwell include:

You do not need a referral to visit one of our physiotherapists in Bairnsdale (except for DVA and Medicare EPC)and our services can be claimable on Private Health Insurance (if covered as an extra), with rates kept as minimal as possible. We also provide no charge WorkSafe and TAC injuries.

We are dedicated to providing the highest quality of care for our patients, ensuring their complete maintenance, recovery and reducing the risk of recurrence. Our staff are always happy to help with any questions or concerns you might have before or after an appointment.

Meet the Team

Alan Yates

Alan Yates


Alan started private practice in Morwell circa 1986 and has been with Gippsland Physiotherapy Group since. He has completed many professional development courses over the years, including Level 1 and 2 Sports, Level 1 and 2 Spinal, Level 1 and 2 Dry Needling, Pilates, Lymphedema, Hydrotherapy and many more, lending to his wealth of experience.

Alan uses his wide range of skills to assess and treat to his utmost capacity with the aim to return clients to as close as possible to their pre-injury function level. He is interested in all musculoskeletal conditions and enjoys working in the sports injury area.

Danielle Spies

Danielle Spies


Danielle completed a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from James Cook University (2014) and become a director of the company in 2017.
Danielle enjoys furthering her education and has completed an extensive range of courses in treating upper and lower limb sporting injuries, chronic pain and complex shoulder injuries, just to name a few. Danielle has a special interest in post-operative physiotherapy, sporting injuries and chronic pain, using dry needling as one of her treatment modalities. Danielle strives to provide the best possible care to ensure successful patient outcomes.

Danielle continues to honour her South African heritage, supporting the Springboks in Rugby Union. However she does support the Melbourne Football Club in AFL and the North Queensland Cowboys in the NRL. Danielle can be found on the ski slopes in winter, and spends her weekends enjoying time with family and friends, exploring new places, drawing and craft activities.

Danielle is currently on maternity leave.

Daniel Crowder

Daniel Crowder


Daniel has attained a Bachelor of Exercise Science from the University of Wollongong, as well as a Master of Physiotherapy from Sydney’s University of Technology.

Daniel’s particular interests lie in musculoskeletal and sports physiotherapy, as well as chronic pain management. He is looking forward to the opportunity to treat patients from a variety of backgrounds.

Formerly of New South Wales, Daniel is a dedicated sportsman who enjoys cricket and martial arts, as well as exploring the outdoors.


Chamira Rathnasara

Chamira Rathnasara


Chamira holds both a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from Charles Sturt University and a Bachelor of Science (Human Structure and Function) from the University of Melbourne.

His professional interests are in sports injury rehabilitation, hydrotherapy and chronic pain management. Chamira’s love of sport resulted in his pursuing the above in physiotherapy and treatment of acute injuries; during his studies he was the head trainer for the Wodonga Bulldogs Football & Netball Club.

Cricket, squash, tennis and cycling are Chamira’s current sports of choice. He follows Essendon in the AFL, the LA Lakers in the NBA and the Pittsburgh Steelers in the NFL.

Mia Torres

Mia Torres


Mia graduated from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines with her Bachelors of Science in Physical Therapy.

She is particularly interested in musculoskeletal and women’s health cases. Because Mia was raised in a big sporting environment, she has always had a fascination with sports injuries. Recently, Mia has been learning more about chronic pain and how she can better manage her patients.

Mia grew up with two brothers, which has resulted in her becoming very competitive. She used to compete in track and field, badminton, chess and tennis when she was younger. Mia enjoys being outside, she loves watching survivor and is becoming more interested in Crossfit training and weightlifting. In her spare time, Mia loves going on road trips, doing new things, travelling and meeting new people to broaden her horizons.

Polly Riddel

Polly Riddell

Massage Therapist

Polly obtained her Diploma of Remedial Massage from TAFE Gippsland. She also holds qualification in Neuro Training Kinesiology. Polly continually attends workshops to improve her knowledge and understanding of the human body, with dry needling being a recent addition to her repertoire.





Blessy graduated from Monash University with her Bachelor of Science, her Postgraduate Diploma in Biomedical Science –Paediatrics, and her Bachelor of Physiotherapy.

Blessy has a keen interest in musculoskeletal physiotherapy, neurological rehab and paediatrics. She has found working with patients over long-term has always been rewarding as a stronger rapport is built with clients and their successes are yours too. Additionally, for the past 5 years Blessy has worked at Monash Children’s Hospital as a Paediatric Sleep Scientist and has enjoyed working with children with various disabilities and limitations.

Outside the clinic, you can find Blessy in the gym, discovering new places to travel, eat and socialise –she’s always happy to take recommendations! She’s a creative individual who likes to read and write in her spare time. Blessy enjoys reading about the human condition, happiness and productivity.
